A few days ago, Aisin Seiki confessed to the US court. It had previously conspired to secretly distribute auto parts customers and agreed to accept a fine of $35.8 million.
The District Court of Indiana has announced that Aisin Seiki has conspired to distribute customers of variable timing valve equipment and violated US antitrust laws. The affected automakers include General Motors, Nissan, Volvo and BMW.
The US Department of Justice said that as early as September 2000, Aisin Seiki colluded with Other suppliers to negotiate, privately assign orders for variable valve timing equipment, and agreed to submit their respective bid quotations. It will continue until February 2010.
Including the Aisin Seiki, the US Department of Justice’s anti-monopoly investigation of the auto parts industry has been accused by 31 companies and 44 managers. All 31 companies have already pleaded guilty. A fine of $100 million, and 26 of the 44 managers were sentenced to jail.
