What size motors do people put on the base?
This is 2 stroke 2.5HP, we have other two items 2 stroke 2.0HP and 4 stroke 1.5HP
Can the base handle a 3 or 5 hsp motor?
No, this only can be 2.0HP, 2.5 HP, or 1.5HP.
How is this unit in salt water? Is it mostly aluminum and plastic parts or is there steel that will rust?
It is aluminium alloy + sforzato nylon, there isn't steel will rust.
Is the 4 stroke a lot quieter than the 2 stroke?
Yes, 4 stroke is quieter than 2 stroke. But the most important difference between them is that
4 stroke outboard motor's fuel oil consumption is just 40% of the 2 strke outboard motor.
Have you tried a small electric motor on the shaft yet?
Not yet. We don't suggest use electric motor. Electric motor is samll power, cruising ability will not good.
Just wondering if the shaft can handle 2.5 hsp 2 stroke, why can't it handle 2.5 hsp 4 stroke? Both are same hsp?
The engine not more than 2.5HP is suitable for the shaft. If more than 2.5HP, the propeller will idle. So we don't suggest using big HP engine on this shaft.
And now we only have 4 stroke 1.5HP engine. So if you really want 4 stroke 2.5HP outboard motor. I suggest you can buy our shaft, and you install the 4 stroke 2.5HP on it.
