Hengtong Chemical's 200,000 tons ion-exchange membrane caustic soda project

On July 13, a message from Shandong Yangmei Hengtong Chemical Co., Ltd. reported that the company's 400,000-ton/year ion-exchange membrane caustic soda project had successfully passed the 72-hour test in the first phase of the ion-exchange membrane caustic soda. After the project is put into production, Hengtong Chemical will phase out the existing 250,000 tons/year membrane caustic soda plant.

It is understood that Hengtong Chemical's 400,000-ton/year ion-exchange membrane caustic soda project uses the world-leading Japan-based Asahi Kasei Ion Membrane and natural circulation zero-electrode distance electrolyzer. The brine process uses the Pall membrane filtration technology. During the drive test, the 8 electrolyzers in the project had an operating current of over 14,000 amps, a total load of 58 megawatts, a daily production concentration of 32% caustic soda 630 tons, liquid chlorine 108 tons, hydrochloric acid 75 tons, and hydrogen 7000 cubic meters. The technical indicators of the process and the output and quality of the products have reached or exceeded the design level, saving about 30% compared to the original diaphragm caustic soda.
It is reported that the second phase of the project is expected to be completed and put into operation in April next year. Taking this industrial upgrading project as a breakthrough, Hengtong Chemical will make progress towards the goal of building a billion chemical city.
