The price platform showed that in June 2011, the comprehensive average purchase price of japonica rice in early, middle, and late nights in Hunan was 125.4 yuan per 50 kg, which was 1.2% higher than in May (monthly) and 17.9% higher than in June 2010 (year-on-year). Compared with January 2010 (constant ratio), it is up 23.29%.
The director of the Provincial Price Bureau, Gong Xiusong, said that at present, the country’s grain has enjoyed a bumper harvest for eight consecutive years, and the inventory is abundant. However, under the impetus of production costs and labor costs, food prices will rise steadily. “But there will be no significant increase.” This year, the purchase price of rice may increase by about 10%.
