Apple Inc's standing in the Chinese smartphonemarket declined in the second quarter as domesticbrands picked up the pace in sales, two new marketreports showed.
In the second quarter, Chinese brand Xiaomi, whichshipped 15 million smartphones, pushed Apple out ofthe top four in terms of market share in China,according to a report released by independentanalysis company Canalys.
Xiaomi was previously ranked fifth in sales in China,while Apple was at four, according to media reports.
Huawei Technologies Inc remained the top vendor in China from April-June for the secondquarter in a row after shipping more than 23 million smartphones in the market, Canalys' datashowed.
Huawei was followed by Oppo and Vivo, which sold 21 million and 16 million units, respectively.
A separate report from Hong Kong-based technology market research firm Counterpoint alsoput Apple at fifth in terms of sales in China, after Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi, according toa press release last Monday.
Apple's sales in China grew by 8.2 percent year-on-year in the quarter, 0.3 percentage pointslower than in the year-earlier period, while sales growth for Xiaomi accelerated from 11.2percent year-on-year during the second quarter last year to 13 percent this year, according tothe report.
