Pilz configurable controllers for packaging applications
Highly automated machines require intelligent and modular safety systems to ensure economic viability and provide a competitive advantage. The Oystar A+F is fully equipped with an open, flexible and decentralized security system designed by Pilz with powerful diagnostic capabilities.
The first choice to consider is to integrate safety functions and equipment one by one into the control systems of different suppliers. However, the idea was quickly shelved considering the high complexity of different system software tools and related software verification processes. Next, the configurable control system PNOZmulti Mini was selected in combination with a decentralized peripheral, the input module PDP67.
As a central safety component, the PNOZmulti Mini, a compact configurable control system, takes into account all safety-related functions. The PNOZmulti Mini main base board with 20 digital inputs and 4 digital semiconductor outputs is installed in the main control cabinet, monitors the emergency stop button, reset button, and mode selection switch, and controls the servo amplifier all the way until the safety stop.
For many years, Oystar Group has always put safety first. Headquartered in Stutensee near Karlsruhe, the company is one of the world's leading suppliers of packaging machinery, including related technologies and extensive services. Packaging specialists Oystar A+F's machines have doors that need to be opened from time to time or temporarily, and their safety gate systems are designed for applications up to the PL e-class standard specified in EN ISO 13849-1, and in most cases Equipped with a door lock for protection during processing. In the past, these tasks involved expensive and labor-intensive cabling projects to install mechanical safety switches with guard locks, and the signals were processed centrally through safety relays.
The PSENslock safety gate system monitors the various points of approach of the machine via the PNOZmulti Mini. The security gate system transmits the signal to the PNOZmulti Mini via the distributed module PDP67. Doors that do not require security linkage are equipped with a coded safety switch PSENcode like a modular system. When the machine and assembly line are interconnected and the machine is assembled like a modular system, the direct connection of multiple PNOZmulti Mini systems ensures the safe exchange of signals.
Measures must be taken to counter the risk of an operator or other person being exposed to a semi-automated or fully automated area.
The distributed PNOZmulti series developed by Pilz is ideal for systems that require standardized solutions, whether stand-alone or modular networks. The software tool PNOZmulti Configurator makes the configuration of the entire system extremely easy. A clearly structured and intuitive user interface speeds up the debugging process. The large number of different communication interfaces for various fieldbus systems allows the configurable control system to comply with a universally applicable safety standard because it can be used independently of any particular operating control system.
Oystar and Pilz have worked closely together to develop a set of security system standards that can be adapted to meet the individual needs of different facilities and machine types. Pilz company not only supplies equipment and systems, but also responsible for design, product selection, commissioning and after-sales service and technical support.
