In the current office building project, the design includes network wireless coverage. In the implementation of the project, wireless AP devices that are convenient and late for network wireless device management are often used as front-end wireless signal coverage. In the process of installing the wireless AP, we must pay attention to the following points to ensure the stability of the wireless network after the implementation of the project and reduce the rework of the project.
Wireless AP Installation Notes Monitoring Tips
First, AP installation position is as high as possible
The AP plays the role of a hub in a wireless network. It is actually the "base station" for the transmission of wireless network signals. Therefore, its installation location must be selected so as not to affect the transmission stability of the entire wireless network signal.
Considering that wireless communication signals are transmitted in a straight line direction, if there are obstacles in the transmission process, the strength of the wireless communication signal will be weakened, especially when a metal obstacle is encountered, the attenuation of the wireless signal. It is even greater.
To prevent wireless signals from being disturbed by external obstacles, install the wireless AP to the highest position possible. With an outdoor antenna, you can use the tower to increase the outdoor antenna height of the wireless AP. Effectively reduce the moving or fixed obstacles between the wireless terminal and the AP, so as to ensure that the signal coverage of the wireless AP is large enough, then the overall communication performance of the wireless network will be greatly improved.
Second, a small overlap between APs
With Ethernet, we can effectively connect multiple wireless APs to build a wireless local area network so that users can freely roam throughout the entire network. However, when a visitor moves from one sub-network (that is, within the coverage of one AP) to another sub-network, the distance between the visitor and the original wireless AP will be longer and farther. Thus Wi-Fi The signal will be weaker and weaker, and the internet speed will be slower and slower until the signal connection with the original AP is interrupted.
If there is a small overlap between the coverage area of the wireless AP of another subnet and the coverage area of the wireless AP of the original network, then the visitor will automatically enter the moment it is about to disconnect from the original network. The new subnet covers the area, which ensures that visitors stay online while roaming between different networks without disconnection.
Therefore, when establishing a wireless roaming network, in order to ensure that the wireless network has sufficient bandwidth, it is necessary to perform a small amount of cross coverage for each wireless signal coverage area generated by each wireless AP, so as to ensure seamless connection of each wireless sub-network.
Of course, the coverage of overlapping parts cannot be too large, otherwise it may cause wireless interference in addition to increasing the engineering cost.
Third, control the bandwidth to ensure speed
In order to ensure that the communication speed of the entire wireless network is not affected, it is necessary to control the number of wireless workstations in order to ensure that each workstation can obtain sufficient Internet bandwidth. Then, how many wireless stations can a wireless AP connect to each other at the same time, will it not reduce the communication speed of the entire network? In general, wireless APs that support the IEEE E802.11b standard can connect 50 or so workstations at the same time (Huawei said can)
Fourth, fewer signals through the wall, less wear glass
If the signal transmitted by the AP passes through the wall or is interfered with by others, its communication distance will be greatly reduced. In order to avoid unnecessarily weakening the communication signal, it is necessary to control the position of the wireless AP so that its signal is as small as possible or not to cross the wall, and in particular to avoid passing through the poured reinforced concrete wall.
Through practical tests, it was found that within 10 meters of the wireless AP's transmission signal after crossing two brick walls, its signal strength can still be maintained at the standard maximum transmission intensity, but once the wireless signal passes through the poured reinforced concrete. At the time of the wall, its signal strength dropped by half. It is not difficult to see that the signal strength of wireless communication signals will be greatly attenuated when they pass through a metal wall.
Therefore, when establishing a wireless LAN in a building with more than two floors, it is best to install at least one wireless AP on each floor. This ensures that all wireless terminals within the floor can be covered by the wireless AP. within.
In addition, if there are a large number of room gaps within the same floor, then there should be no more than two wall separations between wireless APs and wireless terminals, or more wireless APs need to be installed to ensure that each A wireless terminal can get enough signal strength.
In practice, the ability of the AP to penetrate the wall is very strong, and the impact of the glass on the AP signal is still relatively large, so wear glass as little as possible.
Fifth, AP placement
Since the wireless AP's signal coverage area is a circular area, in order to ensure that each wireless terminal connected to it can effectively receive the communication signal, it is better to place the wireless AP in the center of the connected terminal. For example, the wireless AP may be placed at the center of the hall/room/bridge, so that the wireless terminals connected to the wireless AP surround the wireless AP. This ensures that each terminal can access the wireless network at a high speed.
VI. External interferences
Some electronic devices in the same frequency range as wireless APs affect the signals of wireless APs. This needs attention, including microwave ovens, anti-theft devices (gate inspections), and other high-power electronic devices. Therefore, when deploying APs, you should keep away from them. Interference source 1-2 meters.
Seventh, other matters needing attention
The site selection during deployment must meet the construction requirements. To understand the technical parameters of the wireless AP coverage radius, the wireless AP must select high temperature, moisture, and PoE power supplies, and use the AC controller to centrally manage the channels. The adjacent APs have different channel settings.
The wireless network usually adjusts the internet speed according to the distance of the communication distance. Generally, the closer the wireless terminal is to the wireless AP, the stronger the anti-interference ability of the communication signal, and the faster the internet speed, if the wireless terminal The farther away from the wireless AP is, the more susceptible the communication signal is to external interference, the slower the Internet speed will be.
Therefore, in order to ensure that the speed of the Internet is always at a relatively high level, it is necessary to control the distance between the wireless AP and the terminal and try not to make them far away. If the distance is relatively long, you can add a wireless AP or use an external antenna to extend the coverage. If a directional antenna is installed for a terminal with a long distance, the direction of the antenna needs to be set to ensure that the terminal has a suitable small angle with the horizontal line.
