Yili energy and chemical industry base put into production

On October 28, the first-phase project of Yili Energy Chemical Recycling Economy Industrial Base, with a total investment of 30 billion yuan, was completed and put into operation in Dalate Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This project will create an energy and chemical recycling industry with coal and coal gangue as the carrier and polyvinyl chloride as the main product.

The base was jointly built by Yili Resources Group and Shenhua Group, Shanghai Huayi Group and Tangshan Jidong Cement Company. The first phase of this production project started in April 2005 and has now been basically completed with an investment of 13 billion yuan. It mainly includes five major projects: First, 10 million tons of coal mining projects and 4×200MW coal gangue self-produced power plants jointly invested by Yili Resources Group and Shenhua Group with a total investment of RMB 7 billion; and second, joint investment with Shanghai Huayi and Shenhua Group. The first phase of 400,000 tons of polyvinyl chloride and 400,000 tons of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda projects were built; the third was 1.2 million tons of industrial waste residue cement projects jointly invested with Hebei Jidong Cement Group. The commissioning of these projects formed an integrated recycling industry chain of coal-coal gangue power generation-refined salt-ion-exchange membrane caustic soda-PVC-industrial waste residue cement.

According to Zhang Lijun, senior vice president of Yili Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., the base currently has a series of advantages: First, cost advantage. With the resource recycling model, the cost of the product is reduced by more than 15% compared with the same raw material route product. The second is the advantage of energy substitution. Using coal gangue instead of coal resources and replacing petroleum ethylene with coal-fired power generation and chemical cogeneration is an effective way for the sustainable development of China's energy industry. The third is energy-saving advantages. Polyvinyl chloride project realizes multi-purpose use of water; Waste rock power generation project adopts complete air-cooling technology and circulating fluidized bed technology, which can save water 75%; industrial waste residue cement project is the “three wastes” comprehensive utilization project encouraged by the state; biochemical wastewater treatment reaches chlor-alkali The industry-level emission standards and the implementation of industrial wastewater zero emission projects.
