13 Chemical Technology Projects Tackling Problems

The reporter learned from the Basic Research Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology on the 11th that the national key basic research and development plan -- the implementation of the 973 Plan Project was held on October 10, 2006 in Beijing. At the conference, 65 projects approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China for the national 973 program were announced, of which 13 were petroleum and chemical projects.

The 65 items of the 973 program that were established this time belong to the fields of agriculture, energy, information, resources and environment, population and health, materials, comprehensive crossover, and important scientific frontiers. The projects in the petroleum and chemical industries are all based on basic research. They are: the hydrocarbon accumulation mechanism and distribution law of typical superimposed basins in western China; basic research on the development of carbonate fracture-cavity reservoirs; and the green use of highly efficient oil resources. Continuing chemistry; scientific and technical basis for the preparation and shaping of materials for short flow processes; basic scientific issues of high-performance polyacrylonitrile PAN carbon fiber; research on biosafety of artificial nanomaterials and exploration of solutions; resource utilization of enhanced oil recovery by greenhouse gases Underground storage; Research on some frontier scientific issues in the process of material creation and chemical transformation; Fundamental research in molecular electronics; Protein machines and molecular mechanisms; Advanced theories and methods for energy saving of typical heat exchange equipment in high energy consumption industries; Efficient thermoelectric conversion materials Basic research of devices and devices; chemical and molecular self-assembly of molecular aggregates and the functions of assemblies. The implementation of these projects will play an important role in the strategic, forward-looking, overall and stimulating basic research in the petroleum and chemical industries, as well as the resolution of major issues in the future development of the industry.

It is understood that the National 973 Plan is a basic research and development plan that has clear goals, has a global and stimulating effect on national development and scientific and technological progress, and requires the country to vigorously organize and carry out. Each project included in the plan can obtain funding ranging from 5 million to 30 million yuan in the country. The program was launched in 1998 and was reviewed and approved once a year. Since the program was launched, it has achieved a number of phased results in a number of important areas, raising the overall level and international status of China's basic research.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. At the meeting, Cheng Jinpei, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, issued a letter of appointment to the chief scientist of each project.
