Recently, British ballast water treatment system manufacturer Coldharbour Marine and Greece TMS tanker signed an agreement to modify the GLD ballast water treatment system for a Suez tanker.
The modification was carried out in 2013 for the 158,513 DWT Suez oil tanker "Bordeira", which is expected to be installed in early 2018 and used to carry out the type approval test of the US Coast Guard, supervised by Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR). The agency has issued an IMO type approval for the Coldharbour system.
Andrew Marshall, CEO of Coldharbour Marine, said, “Our system is designed for large tankers and other similar vessels. This is our main target market and we will help our customers make the best choices at the right time to ensure shipowners. Interests."
Evangelos Sfakiotakis, Technical Manager of TMS Tanker, stated, “We have carefully evaluated that Coldharbour's inert gas-based technology is suitable for our large tankers.â€
It is understood that TMS Tanker is a member of the Greek TMS Group, which currently operates 43 tankers.
